Committee: Come in, Mr Ramesh.
Ramesh: Good Morning sir ( You may direct this to one person in middle or node by turn to all while speaking this only once : don’t repeat good morning) (Never say : good morning everybody, they are your seniors )
Committee Mr A: Good morning Mr Ramesh, please be seated.
Ramesh: Thank you sir. (Ramesh gently pulls chair and sits down with straight legs and hands resting on sides. Looking and waiting straight at the man in centre)
Mr A: Can you please tell us about your self in brief?
Ramesh: Yes sir. I am coming from Erode. I belong to there and had my schooling from there. I passed my MBA from Kongu Arts College in 2007 with first division. I have majored in Marketing. I have been throughout first class. I did my summer internship with Jailaxmi Auto at Salem. I belong to family of agriculturalists. I am looking forward to join a reputed company where I can get opportunity for good learning and responsibility.
Mr B: Mr Ramesh: What you are looking for in your career or shall I say what you want to be after 10 years from now?
Ramesh: Sir Challenge always excites me. I also love to work independently as much as possible. I am looking to make great career in marketing and I would like to become general manager in next 10 years in your company or any other reputed big organisation.
Mr B: Why do you think you are qualified for that position so soon?
Ramesh: Sir , I am ambitious, hardworking and love to deal with people and travel. I am good in planning too. I think sir, 10 years is long enough time for a committed MBA professional and achiever to become General Manager within 10 years. I will strive to achieve that. It is my goal. I hope I will do that.
Mr A: Why not go for your own business and become an entrepreneur?
Ramesh: You caught me there sir. In fact I do have a dream to become entrepreneur, eventually. But for that I must gain valuable experience, collect some finance and rise to a good position in corporate world to understand intricacies of business decisions and to develop good contacts.
Mr C: Ramesh, what do you think should be quality of a good manager?
Ramesh: Sir, I think most important quality is leadership ability. Then commitment to their work and Goals and of course a good health and positive attitude.
Mr A: What are your comments about Vote of Confidence won by Man Mohan Singh Government?
Ramesh: Sir, I am not quite familiar with intricacies of international agreements and nuclear power. But I sure have trust in leadership and expertise of Dr Man Mohan Singh. He has worked well in adverse conditions of inflation around the world and has managed to give results in a minority based alliance government. I think it is good to win vote of confidence as in any case only few months were left in general elections and at this stage fall of government would have further destabilised conditions in our country.
Mr B: Tell us something about your summer internship and what were your achievements.
Ramesh: Sir, I formulated a project in marketing area for the organisation. I studied the customer behaviour and satisfaction for Eicher products. My particular attention was on examining the impact of “Return on Investment” on consumer satisfaction. My work entailed survey of 300 customers of the company and study of service marketing literature. I came up with following two suggestions for improving customer satisfaction in the company:
1.
2.
Mr C: Alright Mr Ramesh, do you have any preference of place for working?
Ramesh: No sir, I am comfortable to work any where in India or abroad. I am still a bachelor and therefore I can mobilise my self quickly.
Mr B: Tell us about Key Account Management.
Ramesh: Sir, Key accounts are main customers of company who buy in bulk, have long term relations or are prestigious accounts, like, say Tata Motors. Therefore, a senior executive is assigned to such valuable customers for single point contact by customer and to service the customer’s needs and develop good relations with them. Given a chance I would love to start as a Key Account Manager.
Mr A: Well, why do you think you are fit for that role?
Ramesh: Sir, I have good communication ability, I have patience, service orientation and I become friendly quickly. I think I have aptitude and caliber to service important customers with confidence and develop business relations and personal influence with them. It will give me rich experience too.
Mr C: When do you plan to marry?
Ramesh: I have not yet decided sir.
Mr C: would you like to have arranged or love marriage?
Mr Ramesh: I am open to either sir. It depends on who acts faster. Me or my parents (grins gently)
Mr A: Do you have a passport?
Ramesh: Yes sir I have the passport.
Mr A: What remuneration or compensation do you expect?
Ramesh: Sir I am a fresh graduate without any real experience in company. I am sure your company will take care of my basic needs rather well. In any case I expect a gross salary of around Rs 2.4 lacs per annum for a posting in A class city. However, I am flexible on that.
Mr C: Do you have any questions?
Ramesh: No sir, I had studied about your company before coming to interview.
Mr A: Ah, I see! good. Alright Mr Ramesh, can you please wait outside?
Ramesh: Sure sir, Thank you. It was my pleasure to interact with you gentlemen(be sure no lady is there). Have a good day.
Mr A: Thanks and good day Mr Ramesh.
Ramesh stands up quickly and firmly, turns around with smile and walks briskly with upright body, opens the door and leaves gently through it without looking back and banging the door.
